Do We Need Another Podcast Chart To Obsess Over?

When You Woke Up Today We Your Praying for Another Podcast Chart?

So I just heard about The Pod Radar and thought, "Oh boy yet another chart for podcasters to obsess and quote about.

If someone said, "I'm number one this week on the Pod Radar" would that make you want to click?

Is it that every podcaster didn't get enough hugs growing up that we need some sort of recognition, as in any kind of recognition.

When the service is free - YOU are the product

When I looked at the privacy notice, it states, "We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties, except as described in this policy or when required by law."

There is one vague area in their terms. They can use your information, "To provide and maintain the podcast discovery platform" so if selling my information helps maintain the platform, is that OK? I don't know. I'm just asking.

Who is Pod Radar???

This is probably some nice person in their spare bedroom who created this service, but you wouldn't know it. The only email listed on the site is legal@ (service). There is no About page. There is no "Meet the staff."

I went to sign up (it's free) I decided to use my Google Login and saw this:

I'm not a privacy nut, but when I see "Google will allow cwyreyjnwfmhuominceu.supabase.co to access this info about you."

My brain was like, "shouldn't that say Pod Radar?"

YAY Capitalism!

Look, if you want to create a product and be successful, it typically needs to solve a problem. We have Apple Charts, Spotify Charts, and other rankings that could fill a page.

Do we need another one?

Wouldn't it be more useful to use the time spent obsessing over chart placement to spend it on making REMARKABLE content?

They will charge you $99 a week to advertise on site (with the idea that everyone will be coming to look and see if they've moved up the charts).

So, um, that's a thing.

If you find it useful.

If you rolled out of bed hoping to put your show on yet another podcast chart then check out the Pod Radar Today.
